Pharmaceutical Analysis I

(Lectures 3 h/week, Laboratory 20 h. Assessment: final exam at the end of each term or September)

This course deals with the quantitative analysis of drugs. General theoretical aspects are treated briefly, but there is a meaningful presentation of the chemical principles concerning the selected examples, all of which are official compounds, organic pharmaceuticals mostly.

  • Introduction to Pharmaceutical analysis.
  • Identification, purity control and quantitative determination of pharmaceutical substances.
  • Application of gravimetric, aqueous and non aqueous volumetric methods and oxidation-reduction procedures (potassium permaganate, iodine and potassium iodate).
