FULL CV

Education

  • Degree in Pharmacy, University of Athens (1983).
  • Ph. D. in Pharmacy, University of Athens (1988).

Research topics

  • Study of volatile metabolites mainly of Mediterranean plants in different vegetative stages in order to clarify their chemical profiles and to detect the conditions and period that they yield the optimum concentrations of bioactive metabolites.
  • Chemotaxonomic study of taxa, which are uncertain to their taxonomic position. Study of geographic, seasonal variation, interpopulation differentiation and identification of diagnostic biomarkers.
  • Phytochemical analysis mainly of Mediterranean plants for detection-isolation-structure elucidation of bioactive metabolites.
  • Investigation of the allelopathic potential of natural products, their activity as insect repellent, fugistatic, fungitoxic and larvicide in order to be used as alternative remedies.

Scientific Activities

  • Trends in Natural Products Research: A PSE Young Scientists’ Meeting, Kolymvari-Crete, Greece, 12-15 June 2011.
  • CSUWPD 2010: Conservation and Sustainable Use of Wild Plant Diversity, Kolympari, Chania, Crete, Greece, 5-8 May 2010.
  • 7th Joint Meeting of AFERP, ASP, GA, PSE & SIF, Athens, Greece, 3-8 August 2008.
  • “4nd AMAPSEC Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of South-East European Countries”, Iasi, Romania, 18-31 May 2006.
