ΙΣΤΟΡΙΗΣ ΕΠΙΣΚΕΨΙΣ [HISTORIIS EPISKEPSIS]: REVISITING HISTORY, ITS PROBLEMS AND METHODS “THE GREEK REVOLUTION OF 1821”

A training programme of the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

The Department of History and Archaeology of the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) offers for the seventh consecutive year the Training Programme Ιστορίης Επίσκεψις[Historiis Episkepsis], for teachers serving in the Greek primary and secondary education. The seventh cycle of the programme focuses on the Greek Revolution, and forms an integral part of the NKUA activities on the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution (1821-2021). It is also part of the activities of the NKUA’s Centre of Continuous Education and Training.

The programme will discuss the ideological, political, military, diplomatic and artistic parametres of this emblematic event in the history of modern Greece. Moreover, it will examine the historical background, the perceptions and connotations of the Greek Revolution, on an international scale, in its time until today, as well as its historical parallels. At the same time, the programme aims to offer to active teachers of History in Greek education, updates that will assist them in dealing with these subjects during the pivotal year 2021.

The courses will last for 24 hours, and will take place through teleconference, on Fridays, 13, 20 and 27 November (from 17.00΄‐21.00΄) and Saturdays 14, 21, 28 Νοεμβρίου 2020 (from 10.00’-14.00’).
