The team was accompanied by  the award-winning student of the Mathematics Department at previous competitions George Gavrilopoulos.

The SEEMOUS (South-Eastern European Mathematics Olympiad for University Students) is a mathematics competition for first and second year students, which began at the academic year 2006-07. Students compete in four problems a day, which are translated into the language of each contestant and relate to the subject matter: Infinite Calculus, Linear Algebra, Basic Algebra, Real Analysis, Combinatorial and Number Theory.

Preparatory courses are offered each year to interested students by faculty members and by students who have been distinguished in previous competitions.

Courses begin each year in mid-November, and in January a competition is held in order to  to select the team that will participate in the competition.
