THE ATHENS LAW SCHOOL TEAM ADVANCED TO THE FINAL ROUNDS OF THE ELSA EUROPEAN HUMAN RIGHTS MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2020-2021

The excellent performance in the Lisbon regional round of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Law School team secured them the 9th position among the 18 finalists that advanced from all regional rounds to the final rounds of the competition. Eirini Vyzirgiannaki was also awarded the Best Oralist prize of the Lisbon regional round. As with all similar events at the time of the pandemic, the regional round was conducted virtually on 6-7 March 2021 and was organized by ELSA Portugal. The final rounds of the competition will be held virtually from 17-21 May 2021.

The team is comprised of undergraduate law students Eirini Vyzirgiannaki, Fotoula Mantzouni, Aikaterini Rippi, and Phaidra Skliri. The team was coached by Myrto Stavridi, a postgraduate student and former winner of the competition, with the assistance of Athanasios Christou, undergraduate student, under the academic supervision of Associate Professor Maria Gavouneli.  

The competition is organized by the European Law Student Association (ELSA) in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the final round takes place at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Law schools from all Member-States of the Council of Europe participate in the competition.
