THE NATIONAL AND KAPODISTRIAN UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS IS INVOLVED IN CAPACITY BUILDING OF AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is involved in Capacity Building of African Universities

The 3-year Erasmus+ project under the title “Humanitarian Action: Climate Change and Displacements” (HumAct) was launched in late January 2021. It is a partnership between the European countries of Portugal and Greece and the African countries of Mozambique and Cape Verde.

The partner institutions Universitado de Cabo Verde and Universidade de Santiago in Cape Verde, Universidade Pedagogica, Universidade Pungue and Universidade Rovuma in Mozambique, will collaborate with Instituto Universitario de Lisboa, acting as the coordinator, and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (MA Program Education and Human Rights), in building capacity in institutions of higher education in the area of humanitarian action in relation to climate change and displacements in the partner countries.

Specific objectives are: (a) build capacity with regard to content in the substantive aspects of Humanitarian Action; (b) build research capacity of educators and students with regard to Humanitarian Action; (c) enhance the pedagogical strategies of educators; (d) strengthen the community outreach and engagement.
