THE ATHENS SCHOOL OF LAW CO-ORGANISER OF THE WORLD FINALS OF THE 16TH LEIDEN SARIN INTERNATIONAL AIR LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION

The Athens School of Law Co-Organiser of the World Finals of the 16th Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition

The School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens will host the World Finals of the 16th Leiden–Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition, commencing on Thursday, 24 April 2025. The competition is organized by the Sarin Memorial Legal Aid Foundation (India), in collaboration with the International Institute of Air and Space Law of Leiden University (The Netherlands).

Established in 2010, the International Air Law Moot Court Competition has become a globally recognized academic event, drawing participation from over 25 universities worldwide each year. The cases presented in the competition address a wide array of evolving issues in international air law and public international law. Participants are required to demonstrate advanced legal reasoning and advocacy skills, both in written memorials and oral pleadings. Since 2015, the Athens School of Law has distinguished itself through its exemplary and consistently high-ranking performances in the competition.

As part of the official programme, an International Air Law Symposium will be held onThursday, 24 April 2025, in the “Drakopoulos” Amphitheatre at the University’s Central Building. The semi-final rounds will take place on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 April at the Law School, culminating in the World Final, to be held on Sunday, 27 April, in the main hall of the historic “Parnassos” Literary Society.

The selection of the Athens Law School to host this year’s World Finals is a particularly prestigious distinction, reflecting the School’s sustained excellence and international recognition in the field. It also marks a significant opportunity for the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens to further enhance its global academic profile.
