Research topics

  • Drug protein/macromolecules binding.
  • Use of cyclodextrins for the optimization of drug’s solubility, dissolution and absorption 
  • Development-formulation and in vitro and in vivo evaluation of novel dosage forms of bioactive compounds (synthetic or natural) with optimized absorption characteristics. 
  • Modeling of drug release, dissolution, absorption, distribution and elimination. 
  • Development and validation of analytical bioassays for the determination of drug levels in biological fluids and application to pre-clinical and clinical pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies.
  • Pre-clinical and clinical pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies.
  • Individualization of drug therapy by measuring plasma levels using pharmacokinetic parameters. 

Distinctions

  • PhD scholarship from the Hellenic State Scolarship Foundation, IKY (granded after examinations, 3-year scholarship, 1987-1990). 
  • President of the Controlled Release Society-Greek Chapter (2001-2006, 2011).
