The master’s degree in Design and Development of Drug Molecules with a direction Pharmacology provides theoretical background through courses and practical skills in pharmacology, molecular or clinical pharmacology.
The program duration is four semesters including lectures and seminars during the initial 2 semesters assessed by written examinations and literature review projects. Students gain indepth knowledge and specialize in selected areas through working for two years individually on a laboratory research project supervised by a Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory Faculty member. Τhe research thesis topic is in the area of molecular pharmacology and biochemical pharmacology or clinical pharmacology.
Graduates from Departments of Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Agricultural, Medicineand other related disciplines, are preferred. Selection criteria include the graduation degree and the degrees in relevant courses (Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, General Biology etc), recommendation letters, an additional graduation degree or master’s degree in a similar field etc. Research experience in the field of interest or a similar field, demonstrated by publications or presentations in conferences would confer an advantage for the candidate. Graduates from foreign Universities should have their degrees accredited by the Hellenic National Recognition and Information Center (DOATAP). The level of English language knowlelde should be at least B2.
Each candidate will be required to participate in an interview hosted by the master’s program 5-membered coordinating committee.
Courses (60 ECTS) are held daily on a semester basis in Greek language.

A total of 2,800 € tuition fees for the entire program is paid in three installments, i.e. 700 € per semester. A fees waiver may be granted for students with a low personal or family income according to the relevant legislation. Terms and conditions for potential waiving of tuition fees and for potential subsidy of tuition fees are stated in the program regulations.

The research thesis project can be performed in collaboration with colleagues from the Department of Pharmacy, other Departments within NKUA (Medicine, Biology, Chemistry etc) , or researchers from Research Institutes e.g. Chemical Biology of NHRF, NCSR Demokritos, Alexander Flehming BSRC, Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens.
